What is a D-Sub connector?
A D-Sub connector is a popular type of I/O (input/output) connection commonly used in the computer and data center industry to provide power and point-to-point communications between two devices, such as a computer and a monitor.
The d-sub contains two or more parallel rows of male or female contacts surrounded by a D-shaped metal housing that provides mechanical support and ensures that the correct orientation is used when mating.
These d-subs are available as D-sub female connectors (or D-sub female connectors) with female contacts or D-sub male connectors with male contacts. The female connector type female connector mates with the male connector type male connector.
Note that a D-sub with a plastic housing cannot be coupled with a D-sub with a metal housing.
